Along with the development of civilization, the improvement of human understanding and the evolution of cultural structure, people tend to pursue further knowledge as well as their own cultural accomplishments. Due to the contribution of various digital technologies, now came the visual era for people to better understand the world. Museum, as the carrier of human civilization, the site that stores the relics of human civilization, and the facility for public education, is one of the key media to transmit culture. However, this public media has suffered from the jagged transmission of its cultural/historical information for a long time. This is due to the one-way,'command'like transmission mode that most museums take when they present their exhibitions. As a result, current exhibitions are tedious and hardly to fulfill the educational purpose. Therefore, this paper, using one of the representative collections--'Zeng Houyi bells'as a model, is aimed to evaluate the request of the'interactive virtual reality technology'for museum presentation and address how to optimize museum presentation with this technology via the analysis of the features of cultural transmission in museum and the interaction with visitors. With the virtual reality software platform together with related software platforms, the virtual exhibition of'Zeng Houyi bells', which in included'virtual display, virtual percussion, virtual pronunciation, and virtual vibration'was easily achieved. This technology realized the interactive presentation yet optimized the transmission efficiency of information. It is a real case of'edutainment'.
