Geological disasters have been one of the main natural disasters in China, posing a threat to people's property and life loss and hindering the sustainable development of society and economy as a whole. Unfortunately, there are still two problems in the geological disaster monitoring area. One is that most current monitoring systems are confined to local areas, and the main method is still the traditional manual monitoring. The other is that the communication techniques used in the current systems are not able to cover the whole country seamlessly and their reliability and security can not meet the monitoring requirements. On the other hand, Compass Satellite System, which has both positioning and communication functions wiht high safety, reliability and stability, is not fully utilized, and its users are relatively rare.To sovle the two problems mentioned above, the dissertation designed and implemented a real-time geological disaster monitoring system based on Compass Satellites. Firstly, the system architecture based on Compass Satellite Sytem is constructed after an extensive literature review and the system requirement survey, making it possible for Compass Satellite System to apply in geological disaster monitoring. Secondly, a specific communication system, which is suitable for data and command transimission in geological disater monitoring, is proposed, and then the application layer protol is implemented. Thirdly, a protol converter is designed and implemented to make data collectors and Compass user terminals compatible in the working mode and data format. Forthly, the local center software is designed according to the requirements of the monitoring system, and then realized on the Windows platform by using techiques such as serial communication, database, MapX and TeeChart. Finally, the national center system for monitoring and information management is integrated by using MQDrive to get monitoring data from the Compass satellite communication platform and implemting JSP, WebLogic and Oralce database to develop an B/S system.Finally, the system was developed and then was applied in the nationwide geological disater monitoring. The successful application of this system indicates that the three-level system designed in the dissertation is effective for the information management, and the combination of Active Self-Report mode and Query-Response mode is successful to bridge the gap between the requriment of geological monitoring and the capacity of Compass satellite system, and the protol convertor is useful to make data collectors and Compass satellite teminals compitable. The research provides an automatic monitoring and information management system for geological disaster mononitoring departments. It has some theory value and broad application prospect, and can be refered in other applications of Compass satellite system.
