A novel Broadband high—power combiner & divider is presented in this paper.The isolating resistor between two dividing ports in the conventional Wilkinson power combiner is replaced by artificial loads and balun impedance transformer which composed with coaxial lines. By this replacement, the bandwidth of this novel combiner is three times wider than the conventional one.1) This paper introduces the basic theory of the transmission line and the principle and design of microwave-power combiner & divider at first, analyzes the working bandwidth of conventional microwave-power combiner & divider, and finds out the main reason of why it is not enough wide.2) Then a novel structure of Wilkinson power combiner & divider is been advanced. The isolating resistor between two dividing ports in the conventional Wilkinson power combiner is replaced by artificial loads and balun impedance transformer which composed with coaxial lines, the working bandwidth is largely enlarging by this way, and increasing the distance between the two dividing posts at the same time. The power capability of this novel combiner & divider is due to the power capability of the artificial loads and coaxial lines which buildup the balun impedance transformer. This novel combiner & divider is no only be used for low power, but also high power.3) At last, comparing the characteristic of this new combiner & divider with the conventional Wilkinson combiner and the bisection combiner by simulation, and proving the validity of microwave balun.
