In the microwave communication and radar transmit system, as output power from an individual solid-state device is rather modest, methods for combining output powers from a number of solid-state devices have been extensively studied in order to obtain higher and higher output power. In the system of deep space exploration, signal frequency is different to transmitter and receiver, test and control is rather importance to transmit signal, low ratio error code is obligatory. S-band and X-band are adopted in transmission signal of deep space exploration. This ensures high reliability and low attenuation of signal. In order to higher output power, the investigation of power combing technique on S-band is necessary. In this thesis, the usual power combining techniques have been reviewed and summarized, including on-chip, circuit and special techniques. The research significance and development trend of high-power combining techniques are clarified. The power combining devices and the entire combining system mainly aiming at solid state circuit has been investigated. Some creative ideas have been proposed. The main results are as follows:1.The ingredients affecting power combining efficiency have been discussed, including circuit loss, combining signal amplitude and phase, discussed conclusion have been proposed ;2. One design of S-band eight-way microstrip combiner is proposed. Through simulation of ADS, the results have been gained, including transmission value of 9 dB, reflection value of 20dB, isolation value of 25 dB respectively. Practicality combiner have been fabricated basing simulation results. Practicality test indicates: VSWR<1.25 , circuit loss <0.2dB, isolation value >20dB;3. The combining technique of multi-probes has been investigated, an dual coaxial waveguide combiner has been proposed. Through simulation of HFSS, result indicates: VSWR<1.25, circuit loss <0.1dB respectively .
