Power combiner is widely used in radar transmitter. With the increase of power output, a combiner with high combining efficiency and power capacity is request by the transmitter. This paper analyses some combiner used before and indicate the deficiency of them and provide some improved method.You know the coherence of output amplitude of the serial feeding network is not easy to control. We design a serial feeding network with rectangular DGS. Using this DGS or getting rid of this DGS, we can make the output amplitude change within0.5dB. Thus we can give the incompetent serial feeding network a new life by adjust the scale of DGS. And the high coherence of output amplitude can bring a high efficiency.A combiner without isolation will be usually used in some high power transmitter. To increase the isolation from one out port to each other, we add isolators ahead of the combiner. Thus the lost will be increased. We design a high power combiner with an Π isolated network. The isolated network uses50Qgrounded resistance, which we can regard as a load. The network bestrides the two impedance transformers, and it makes the transmission line a shortest path, and reduces the loss. Moreover the isolator can be reduced. Because of these ameliorations, the output power will be increased and the cost will be reduced.The combiner network designed in this paper is used in radar transmitter. A problem of high efficiency combination is solved.
