The relationship between India and China is close and complex. Media plays a vital role in the process of understanding each other. Over the years, the news media is an important channel for people in India to understand China. Information the media convey to the people, is very important both for people in the two countries to know each other and for the two countries to promote bilateral relations. Trace of the development of Sino-Indian relations in recent years has proved this point. It is of important theoretical and practical significance to research on formulation of China image in the mainstream Indian English medias.This paper, based on analyzing image of the country, combining communication theory and international political image theory, analyzing report of China in mainstream Indian media macro-scopically. The paper is divided into four parts, as follows: The first part introduces the background, content and framework of this study. And related literature was reviewed and carded.The second part analyzing "The Hindu" report of the overall situation in China in six aspects: number of words, news sources, information sources, news types, content, tendency.The third part analyzed political situation, hard power and soft power, and mapped out image of China in"the Hindu", and ultimately come to the formulation of China image in the mainstream Indian English medias.The fourth part made some suggestions on improving the formulation of China image mainstream Indian English medias, such as expanding culture exchange, using some media events, etc. so as to formulate China image in India.
