In recent years, the contest of councries transfer from "hard power" to "softpower", especially after the "9.11", people pay the unprecedented attention to "softpower", compare to "hard power", which utilize economy and military to threat peopledo what they don't want to do, the approach of soft power, which use spirit andmorality to influence,lure and persuate people to believe and approval any behaviorstandard,values and institution programme, was adopted by more and more countriesin nowadays.The enhancement of soft power depend on communication. Only when a nation'sculture,values and domestic/foreign policy are widely spread and accepted, it's softpower will promote truly, and this is the responsibility of medium, herefore, this thesisselect news communication, which not only more close to the politic and nationdevelopment but also has rapidest and the most direct effect on public, to start mystudy. I intend to describe the present situations of Chinese soft power; analysis thechance and challenges brought by the globalzition to information communication; andon this base, I will regularly sort out our on-hand resource and situation of Chinesenews communication; then, I will explain mainstreams of today's global newscommunication system by the text analysis;next, I will display some developmentstrategy of China to promote the soft power.There are four chapters in my thesis. Chapter 1 introduces the origin of "softpower" theory and the development of Chinese soft power. Chapter 2 amplify the newsituation of information communication under the background of globalization, andthe mutual influence bewteen the soft power and the news communication, then, I willspecially analyze the forms of present global news communication system, whichaffect on nation's soft power. Chapter 3 induce the main resource in Chinese presentnews medium which can be used in communicate soft power. By the text analysis on"Newsweek" and "BeijingRewiew", I want to unfold some problems in thecommunication process of soft power of Chinese news media bycomparison. Meanwhile I will analysis two strong rivals in the contest of nowadayssoft power communication—American news communication system and the AlJazeera in Qatar, in order to find the challenges and oppotunities for China. Chapter 4try to give some strateges about the news communication to enhance Chinese softpower, such as the stratege of news communication to portray nation's image, carry out the public diplomacy which takes news communication as the mainstream, thestrateges of online news medium and the strateges refer to improve language andhuman resource like a "hardware" to take advantage for communicating soft power.
