With the further progress of globalization,the soft power of a nation is given to be more vital rather than the hard power.There are multiple capacities required in the soft power,such as the technology of media transmission,the country image,the populace’s cultivation,and the traditional culture,etc.Integrate the resources to enhance the "soft power", to create the democracy,civilized and open, fair national image has become more and more important."The First Lady"in resent years has been recognized as another tremendous diplomatic figure regarding the mutual communication. This female role possess much more power than it seems to do.Heads of governments across the world have realized and started to bring the hidden power onto the front stage in order to reach better state images. Against the development of our domestic society, and the progress of the external internalization,the massive people,government officials or average citizens begin to admit and value the importance attached to this character.They actually take great part in the national images, which can be counted on as the soft power. The First Lady can be the greatest initiator for the social welfare, also a fresh breeze on the international stage.In March,2013, Peng Liyuan, one of the most famous singers and the wife of our president Xi Jinping made her first public pose as The Chinese First Lady.Her elegant image and decent behavior has won her great compliments worldwide, also brought out a vigorous fervor in the country. Her gentle presence with our president abroad helps to build China as the endearing and friendly nation.Her daily schedule,the way of her dressing and manners all become the focus of the media across the nation and whole world. She virtually creates momentum in the development of local economy, spread of the traditional culture,also demonstrates the soft power of China to the whole globe.Since the founding of our country for the first time there is such a huge "first lady" craze, One of the important channels to present the image of "The First Lady"is the massive media.Except the fact of Penguin Liyuan’s own elegance and reputation,the greatest fervor unfolded since the establishment of new China are obviously has a lot to do with the media communication. Media construct a good "first lady"image,not only to help establish a good image of our country,but also to promote the development of the country’s soft power.At the same time, we also witness the flaws in the very first comprehensive broadcast of media regarding "The First Lady"Focus,like the lopsided coverage, shallow content,as well as lack of sustainability and the reports of the angle and content do not enough warmth neither full of details and so on.This thesis applies together the knowledge from journalism and communication on analysis of the items involved in the image of "The First Lady",which are the concept, content, inscapes, substitutive characteristics and its potential influence.It starts with the explanation of the importance of "The First Lady",smoothly transfers to the success and insufficience of both traditional main-stream media and modern media.Trying to be analyzed from the perspective of political, economic perspective, cultural perspective and the perspective of journalistic professionalism and keen to learn from the First Lady report,to summarize the relationship between first lady and the country’s soft power, Hope that more people can understand the important impact of "first lady" to the country, I hope the after-served as "the first lady" who can have a good grasp of their role, image and actively contribute to the country’s soft power. And also in the hope that the conclusion and the theory can deliver somehow ideas in building the image of the First lady"and even more "the soft power".The thesis aims in promoting a benight interaction between the national soft power and the media coverage.
