Facilities management is an important part of business management particularly in the large manufacturing enterprises. The informatization of facilities management is a very approach of improving work efficiency, declining the investment cost and maintenance cost for facilities, helping the manager to make a right decision. As information technology continuously applying in equipment management, plant management information system shows a variety of trends. There exists some problems with these application of information system as follows:not uniform planning, implementing according different phases, isolated constructing, focusing on a part of the business or management, not mature and uniform information resources management platform, not sharing resources and information between systems, repeated developing the same functional module, work inefficiency and serious waste of resources. All the problems result in the heterogeneity between enterprise information systems and are highlighted as the "information isolated island" problem. It is common existed in the process of enterprise informationization, and business management faced urgent problems to be solved.Service-oriented Architecture (abbreviated as "SOA") links different functions of the application services unit through well-defined interfaces and contracts. With the features of a loosely coupled, service reusability and platform independence, it builds the service in a variety of systems able to interact with a unified and common approach to achieve realignment of services and applications. SOA is the bridge between business requirements and technical implementation with the features of a loosely coupled, service reusability and platform independence.Based on the plant management information system in a large-scale vehicle plant, this paper designs the system with theoretical analysis, discusses service-oriented concepts and techniques and its role in system development, improves the current popular SOA architecture to a flexible and rational framework and finishes the loosely coupled, coarse-grained application components distributed deployment, composition and use through the network. Finally, this paper realizes the FMIS based on the improved architecture and related technology to solve real business problems in facilities management.
