Modern production has the characters of high-efficiency, high-speed and continuity. Plant, as the basic support to production, is the only carrier of products, whose condition and production capacity may directly affect the quantity and quality of product, determine the service level, economic benefit and globalization process of enterprise. Meanwhile, plant is developing in the directions of integration, large-scale, continuous, high-speed, precision, automation, processed and synthesis. Once fault stop happened, enormous loss would be taken to enterprise. So how to maintain or even to improve the performance of plant, make full use of modern technology to manage the plant fault effectively became a critical task for enterprises.The plant fault management has always been a difficulty to construct the management information system for enterprise, which with the features of large amount of information, involving a lot of posts and people and trivial processing flow. In new economic circumstances, applying computers, modern network communicating technology and advanced monitoring technology to plant management in the respects of economy and technology especially carrying out dynamic management and aided decision, which have important roles in optimizing the interior and exterior information, reducing the cost of management, increasing economic efficiency, promoting enterprise development, improving the ability of adaptation competition for enterprise. So this dissertation focuses on the plant management theory, method and application based on the network environment.Plant fault has studied in this thesis. With the modern plant management theory and thought, the developments of plant management, the connotation and processing flow of plant fault, the management method of plant fault and the connotation of Plant Fault Management Information System (PFMIS) were analyzed. Then the system structure and the deficiencies of present PFMIS were discussed. Combining the characters of network times, the conception, the characters of Network-based PFMIS, the plant management contents and methods in network environment were outlined; else the system structure of Network-based PFMIS was set up. Then the requirement to Network-based PFMIS was analyzed, which made the design principles, the content and the need of modern management for Network-based PFMIS clear, else with the design idea and the basic mechanism of the system. Then the model of Network-based PFMIS was established, from the three-dimension structure, functional structure and functional model three respects, the general planning of the system was planed. Based on the analyses, the business process, data flow, processing flow, database, coding and security of the system were designed; also the development methods of the system were compared and selected.Finally, the Network-based Plant Fault Management Information System was developed and applied to enterprise successfully, which can manage and control the plant fault effectively. Then the theory and realizing method of Network-based PFMIS was summarized, also the developing trend of PFMIS was forecasted.
