Internet electronic magazine as a network media is no longer a newborn thing, which now has been accepted by the public and especially by the young generation born after 1980s and 1990s. Many in the young group are college students and even high school students, most of them are the readers of internet electronic magazine. Among them, a small percentage is unwilling to be recipients, but actively become writers and producers of electronic magazine. Multi-media electronic magazine is a new-style magazine on the internet, which is composed of characters, pictures, flashes and videos. Compared with papery magazine, it has faster speed and broader range in propagation, as well as it is more updated and timely, more environmental and lower-costing. So how is the application of multi-media electronic magazine in universities? And what kind of effect has been achieved? Have an ideal state been reached? How to use this new media tool ---lectronic magazine well to finish propaganda work for university culture is the problem to discuss in this paper.This article takes the communication effect of multi-media electronic magazine on university internet as research focus, the representative internet electronic magazine of several universities as the key point of study. And the application and real communication effect of electronic magazine in Chinese universities are comprehensively understood through the questionnaire, interview and observation. Five parts are discussed in this paper. The first part introduces emphatically the attribute of electronic magazine and its current application and development in China. The second part is to research the current situation of multi-media electronic magazine in universities ranked in'211'project in China. The third part is to comprehensively analyze the investigation results. The fourth part is to deeply analyze the causes to investigation results. The fifth part points out how to improve the communication effect of electronic magazine, further expand the influence of electronic magazine in universities, and make it become a vital network communication carrier.
