With the development of internet in China, a new service called mailing list appeared and achieved great progress. It is very easy for the common to establish their own electronic magazines by this service. The number of email users increased very quickly at the same time. Both of the two led to the great advancement in electronic magazine. Some good electronic magazines, content providers and platform providers appeared in a shorn run. However, all of them met difficulties since 2000 as well as other internet service. The investment they got before had been used up and it seemed that it is hard for them to gain profit. Many of them disappeared because of different reasons. We could learn a lot from their experience. As a communication way and an internet publishing style, what are the service's characteristics? And what does it mean for the development of internet communication. Generally, the electronic magazine faces all the internet users and could be order by everybody, and mostly free. It is a mass communication media other than the else. It is open and global. Compared to other internet service, it still has "audience".We could divide its difficulties into two parts. One part belongs to the common questions of all the internet service. For example, the spam, the bloke of internet connection and lack of enough economic support. The other part is due to itself, included the problem in market and advertisement. Could all the problems be solved? How? The improvement of them will be decisive for its further development. The electronic magazine is based on the internet and determined by the internet. However, some of its mainly advantages are weakened when the internet develops continuously. It is possible that the electronic magazine disappears in the future.
