The Chinese Electronic Magazine industry began its ascension onto the marketplace in 1998. Paired with the proliferation of internet usage and technology, the industry made moves to maturation in 2004. From that point, application and practicality as well as the industry itself made unprecedented leaps forward.This thesis defines electronic magazines, its developmental history and its sub categorizations. It also overviews main players in the industry and takes an in depth look at their business models and underlying values, focusing on product, price, distribution and promotion as the main comparative parameters between them. Finally, this paper discusses and makes recommendations on the major hurdles that exist within the industry with an acute explanation on governmental control as well as rights and copyright models. Also, this paper makes predictions based on research on industry development, competition, product extensions and resource consolidation.
