Traffic data collection system is an important foundation for intelligent transportation system components, the traditional traffic information collection technology is well established, and intelligent transportation system has made great contributions, but with the continuous application of ITS technology, GPS, GIS, GSM, 3G and other technologies have begun to be applied to traffic data collection systems, these new technologies to accurately and reliably process of collecting traffic speed, travel time and other data for the development of intelligent transportation system has played an important role. Floating car technology as a new traffic information collection methods, can very well make up for existing traffic information collection technology deficiencies, thus improving the amount of data traffic data collection and quality. This data collection of traffic data to improve the quality and timeliness of data collection is proposed to improve traffic flow based on floating car data, GPS/GIS traffic data collection methods. We will GPS technology, GIS technology and data processing technology, system integration, using the differential positioning method and the map matching method, and field-collection and data processing is carried out through traffic data collection experiments, the result is not only true reliable, but also to ensure the accuracy and precision of the data, to enable staff to assess and manage the data more timely manner, thus overcoming the collection methods of mechanical and human error. Finally, a summary of research methods, this method can make up the traditional traffic information collection technology available existing data is incomplete, insufficient data, poor data quality problems, traffic information collection on the work of our great practical significance. Further research for the future provided a good basis for intelligent transportation systems other subsystems provide good data, to promote the comprehensive development of intelligent transportation systems.
