Along with the continuous development of computer technology, space technology, communication technology, database technology and related technology, 3s(GIS, RS, GPS) technology has been closely combined, the application of geographic information services also conveniently to get a massive expansion. And penetrate the learning, work, and every aspect of life of the people, is playing an increasingly important role. In order to meet the demand of people’s life quickly and accurately and convenient to people’s travel, The public geographical information service of not only need to mobile, but also need to terminals. The Android platform is a real sense of the open mobile device integrated platform. At the same time, the Android and has the mobility characteristics. Android provide hot query, self-image, peripheral location, etc in the call all kinds of maps API in the map service has become a part of the very appealing of the Android platform. As National vigorously promote digital city, It has became the main problem for the development of GIS of how to set up public geographic information service system, and for the social public provide the accurate location service, and for the government decisions provide strong support.This paper detailed contents and innovations are as follow:(1)Public geographic information service system is to satisfy people fast effective work demand, geographic information service system should have the trend of mobile terminal. The paper analyzed the importance of public geographic information services.(2) From the system requirement analysis, system design principle, system architecture design, system function module design, interface design, database design and other aspects in detail elaborated the public geographic information service system of the overall design and detailed design.(3)This paper is mainly developed based on the Eclipse platform, on the map service of TIANDITU API, to use its characteristics of openness, ease of use,and sharing a high-resolution image, designed and implemented in Gan Zhou city as an example of public geographic information service system based on Android. This system in order to Gan Zhou city as an example, has realized the map display, my position, weather forecasting, hot query, drive plan, advice and feedback etc.(4)In the hot query module, 16 th commonly used hot search module is designed on the basis of the actual situation of Gan Zhou city. For each hot spots of each module are sorted by distance from near to far. It’s equipped with navigation path and distance shows, and other functions. Using SQLite and My SQL database build public platform, design the code of upload and download of client and server, and through the records of hot search of users to make a simple analysis the characteristics of travel time and the traffic problem of the city of Gan Zhou.To satisfy the basic needs and technical requirements of public geographic information, this system has realized the basic function of public geographic information service. In the future i will continue to in-depth study of public geographic information service, in order to make up for the inadequacy of this thesis.
