With the development of the internet and the extensive application of computer techniques in the mold field, it is the inevitable trend of development that the plastic mold is designed by CAD/CAE technology. The CAD/CAE technology has changed traditional plastic mold design pattern and shortens the period of the design. The key of integrated system of plastic mold CAD/CAE is data-sharing between CAD and CAE. The most commonly used method attempt to combine CAD and CAE for the hope of making use of both advantages. Model is established with CAD software and, then, transmits it to CAE software via the format which can be recognized. One problem with this method is that it is harder not to ensure data exchange accuracy. Exploiting the integrated system of plastic mold CAD/CAE becomes the focus of research these years.Plastic mold (especially large scale plastic mold) is withstanding high temperature and high pressure by melt plastic, which can make the displacement beyond the scope. Therefore, it is necessary to make more checking calculation on stiffness for key parts. This paper focuses on one classical structure of large scale plastic mold. Fixed mold cavity and movable mold plate parameterization model are established in CAD software and CAE software respectively. Seamless integration is realized between the CAD subsystem and CAE system via sharing a database in the SQL Server.In this paper the plastic mold CAD subsystem is developed based on Microsoft Visual Studio platform combining Pro/toolkit and SQL Server. The simplified model of fixed mold cavity and movable mold plate are introduced.The plastic mold CAE remote optimization subsystem is developed based on Microsoft Visual Studio platform combining the ASP.NET and APDL (ANSYS Parametric Design Language) in ANSYS software. The optimum parameters values of the parameterized modeling can be identified by carrying out remote optimization design. Fixed mold cavity and movable mold plate parameterized modeling and the method of reading file parameter by APDL are studied in this paper. For the plastic mold material used in CAE remote optimization, plastic mold material query subsystem is built. It can supply correlative material data for the finite element analysis. The plastic mold material query subsystem has made very detailed enquiries classification based on the methods that mold material work commonly use, build a huge database of mold material information by using SQL Server. Microsoft Visual Studio for corresponding development, thus completing the establishment of the information system as a whole, the system can significantly save information search time. The method that the CAD/CAE system integrates the material query subsystem into CAE remote optimization subsystem is introduced. Other functions include viewing, query, addition, deletion, modification and so on.In the integrated system of plastic mold CAD/ CAE, SQL Server is adopted to be the DBMS. It provides seamless integration functionality through sharing and exchange of the same parameters between CAD and CAE. The system saves the parameters to the SQL Server database, which are obtained from Primary design in the CAD subsystem. Secondly, The CAE remote optimization subsystem read these parameters to remote optimization. Finally, According to the results of remote optimization, Parameters values are determined in the CAD subsystem. According to the integrated system of plastic mold CAD/CAE, the rapid design of plastic mold is achieved, reducing the cost of plastic mold, meeting the needs of plastic products.
