The high failure rate, high energy consumption, inefficient, frequent rolling accidentwas caused by the low-speed, the unattainable precision and the electronic-controlledequipment in the process of the original wire rod production system. So it is necessary toinnovate production processes and the controlled system. In recent years, the applicationof new control technique on rolling system has improve the quality of the product and theefficiency of the line, high-speed wire rod product line control system is researched as anobject and completed in this paper.As a prestigious manufacturer in the field of industrial automation, Siemens has beenleading the technological development of industrial of automation and drives, meeting thedifferent needs of customers in the different industries. With a large variety of products andplural communication methods, Siemens provides technological support for industrialcustomers and provides industrial customers with more solutions to choose. In this situation,This research is based on Siemens automation product to build the high-speed wire rodproduct line control system. With the automation products of Siemens as the automationdevices and drivers of the control system, the system uses two networks. One is the networknamed PROFIBUS-DP which has been used in PLC and remote stations, in which the PLCmainly complete the signal collecting and computing and sending orders to the field devices.this network has a characteristic that the control orders is mainly transmission .The othernetwork is Ethernet which has been used for PLCs, it is also used between PLC and HMI.This network has a characteristic that the information data is far more than control orders.This paper firstly analyses the technique of process and control method, then programand commission using the PLCs as the control device to achieve the PLC control inhigh-speed wire rod product line. Otherwise, supervisory control and data acquisition isrealized by using WinCC and it created a upper system which has a function of remote monitor.The actual operating condition indicated that the system meet the requirement oftechnology of high-speed wire rod product line with a good system configuration and highhardware reliability. Profibus and Industrial Ethernet used in the whole system improve thestability of control system, decrease the cost and become easy for repairing. The automaticcontrol system can be a good example in rolling area.
