Prunus mume as the first International registration flower in China, its holy spirit not only represents the great soul of Chinese people, its significance in the Chinese traditional Garden exposes its deep impact to the Chinese culture as well. Since its visualization is rarely researched and the virtual plant itself is a difficult research topic, the research and Implementation of the prunus mume virtual museum is not only necessary, meaningful, but also challenging.The essay mainly demonstrates the present situation and development trends of virtual reality technology's application in the online virtual museum, and discuses that how we could, according to the collected scientific and cultural data and materials, construct information architecture of the online prunus mume virtual museum, including the logical structure of the website.In the part of constructing virtual environment, the essay represents the process of designing the virtual scene, active line and the areas where the virtual plant should be scattered, according to the attribute of the prunus mume along with its way of been planted when designing a garden,. The virtual museum mainly contains:Visiting Room, Bonsai Room, Poem Room and Fun Room. The exhibition contains not only the knowledge of the prunus mume, but also its splendid culture and history.In the part of the interaction design, the essay mainly demonstrates the different expressing way of the prunus mume in different scenes, when we are roaming in a huge exhibition virtual environment. The paper shows the key technology of making the virtual museum, such as the texture baking and optimizing issues. The essay further proposes a new way to combine the virtual technology based on Virtools with the digital modeling of the virtual plant. Furthermore, it points how to use the VSL and BB programming of Virtools to imitate the effect of realistic surface of water and a small water fall along with other basic interaction design, in order to achieve the vividness of the virtual scene.At last but not the least, the essay demonstrates the key techniques of combining the virtual tour and interaction design based on Virtools into the website constructed by Flash and Dreamweaver, which could truly implements the possibility of "online" virtual museum and enhanced the "3I" features of the virtual technology-Interactive, Indulgence and Imagination.
