With rapid development of computer hardware, software, graphic and virtual reality technology, virtual reality has more and more application in virtual agriculture and forestry. In virtual landscape, highly realistic virtual plant growth simulation with both morphology and function structure has gradually become a research hotspot of digital plant. Due to the complex morphological structure of flower, virtual plant modeling and growth simulation with leaves, petals and other organs has become the key problem of virtual flower research. In this paper, a simulation method is presented for flower morphology and plant growth simulation based on real flower image and plant ecology. By using the flower pictures, detail flower textures can be extracted for simulating geometric features of plant organs. Bi-cubic Bezier curved surface is used to build up the single geometric shape of plant organs. Based on the distribution of plant organs, topology distribution structure of leaves and petals can be established by affine transformation. Then the whole plant can be built up by using the predefined topology structure and single curved surface. In order to be loyal to the plant growth characteristics, the classic Logistic equation theory is provided to simulate the leaf growth and blooming. As excellent mathematical software, MATLAB is adopted to realize the fitting for the growth S curves of the stem, leaves and petals, and multiple growth curves are defined based on leave structure with many internodes. Tulip, Jasmine and Dianthus flowers are taken as examples to test the algorithm validity.
