The3D reconstruction and growth visualization of virtual plant organ is an importantpart of virtual agriculture research, which has the extensive application value in agriculture,forestry, modern agriculture, digital entertainment and education etc. The blooming flowersare one of the most typical visual features of plant as well as the most important organs whichcan express natural beauty of plant. This dissertation aims at realizing the process of floweropening with reality. Lily is used as the object of study, and we mainly focus on thedeformation of petal on the basis of studying on modeling methods of Lily organs.Meanwhile, the visualization system of Lily blossom is designed and realized. Meanwhile,the visualization system of simulating Lily opening is designed and developed. The maincontent and conclusion are as follows:(1) According to analyzing and comparing the existing methods of modeling plant petals,the petal morphology is modeled based on the plane deformation, which can obtain petalsilhouette coordinates accurately and rapidly, and lay the foundation for implementing petaltransformation subsequently.(2) After analyzing the previous plant organ deformation algorithms, the petaltransformation model based on the control curve is proposed through transformation featureslaid in the process of Lily opening. The proposed model not only realistically simulates theprocess of blossom but also needs less computation.(3) The skeleton-based control method to realize curly petal effects is also proposed,which lays in later stage of some kind of Lily. This model can accomplish the curly effect offlower blossom with reality, and it can be applied by other plane transformation (like plantleaves) as well.(4) The visualization of Lily blossom system based on parameter L-system is designed.The designed system can effectively describe parallel changes between flowers topology andorgans structure. Moreover, the model structure is succinct and easy for programming.(5) In order to enhance the virtual effect, we adopt the texture mapping and lightingtechnology which makes the process of Lily blossom more realistic. (6) We used the proposed flower opening model and developed the system of Lilyblossom on the platform of visual C++6.0combined with OpenGL. Experimental resultsshowed that the system can simulate the dynamic process of Lily blossom with strong reality.
