Abstract/Summary:
Nowadays, more and more information is transmitted by image. The rapid development of microelectronics technology and digital technology, made the image information processing system possibly to be a higher degree of integration, better real time and less power consumption. With the completion of EDA technology, the use of large-scale programmable logic devices to achieve system on a chip (SOPC) will become a trend. In this context, programmable logic becomes the new hotspot in the area of video image capture, processing and display. This article is designed to implement a video image processing system, based on SOPC technology.The basic theory of SOPC technology is introduced firstly in this paper, then described briefly each of image processing system components and their relationships, Above all, the SOPC technology is established for this video processing system. The paper focuses on the hardware design and software design.Hardware component is about circuit structures. The core board includes the FPGA and memory chips, and the motherboard consists of image acquisition sensor circuit and display circuit. The design of of schematic and printed circuit board is completed. Software component comprises NIOSâ…¡soft-core, sensors driver, display driver and some application program. Each module is synthesized and simulated in Altera's Quartus II software development environment. The results show that the design can achieve requirements of the timing and functions.Through hardware and software debugging, the CPU, video image acquisition circuit and display circuit can work properly. The system embedded NIOSâ…¡soft-core, cured and run basic image processing and applications successfully, completed the single frame image storage and display of the video. And other applications like zoom out, anti-color, gray level transformation, average filter and median filter. By study of the structural characteristics of figure, the experiment of number identification complete well, it can accurately identify the Arabic numerals 0-9.This design of video image processing system based on SOPC technology, implemented image acquisition, storage and display in a FPGA chip. After the system simulation and testing, the system completes requirements can be very good, and has short design cycle, low design cost, good stability and expansibility, etc. Design a digital recognition technology, it proved that the method is simple. It shows that the technology of SOPC will become the ideal choice in video image processing. As an exploratory attempt about video image processing, it is positive to the other design of real-time processing system in the future.
