With the popularity of broadband network and the increasing management-level of the demand for management industry, not only in cities, public security, transportation, finance, environmental protection, power situation, but also in lots of vital units, administrative departments, all of them have a large needs for the security of major networking platform and the system of video surveillance, particularly in the field of public security and financial business.According to a related project of Air Force's security and defense integration system, this paper introduces a remote monitoring system based on Arm Linux Embedded. Because each terminal to be diverse collection of information, this paper only discusses video surveillance that requiring a high-level real-time, and describes the basic hardware of the system design and software development and porting.In hardware aspect, based on hardware development platform using ARM920T core's S3C2410A processor and ZC301 USB video camera, to grab video graph of monitor area, and connect remote master computer through the Ethernet port to transfer data, all of them composed the remote monitoring system.In software aspect, importantly, introduced the transplantation of embedded Linux operating system and the development of embedded video surveillance, watch follow content for details:(1)Briefly explained embedded Linux system development environment construction methods, including the building of PC hosting Linux development environment and the transplantation of Bootloader, kernel and file system.(2)Detailed described USB camera driver's transplantation, including the method of driver's cross-compilation and driver's loading of target board.(3)Introduced the specific process of gathering video graph in embedded Linux system, including Video for Linux 2 standard and the specific method of video capturing.(4)Proposed a motion object detecting algorithm based on background difference method, and modified it for improving efficiency, including the background difference method analysis and some part of code of the algorithm. Finally, this paper had a summary and outlook to designing and researching of the remote monitoring system based on embedded ARM Linux.
