In order to compete in this new environment and remain invincible position operators are taking their focus to the construction of the telecommunication infrastructure for IP network services. EPON access network as a new technology, because of its low cost, high bandwidth, perfect scalability and other advantages is developing rapidly,proving to be the key technology for 3G services.No matter the degree of maturity of technology or equipment purchase costs, missed the optical network (EPON) optical communication technology is the mainstream of development. It is through the integrated management of optical network platform, hosted VOIP, broadband and IPTV services, telecom operators in order to enhance core competitiveness, the development of quality fiber optic communications will be an important evaluation criterion. How to stabilize the market, existing customers, while absorption of external resources, it is worth our reflection.Compared with the traditional access model, no chance with a high security optical network access equipment and low cost, fast transmission speed, easy operation and maintenance, environmental requirements are not harsh, and simple to upgrade a number of advantages. The traditional IP access model, Council must first determine the user side of the area where the resources are there, since the original entry unreasonable broadband user resources, resulting in a considerable number of game point to insufficient resources or a serious waste of resources. In the case allowed to install, the user side also need to install fixed voice operators as broadband bearer, invisible user's use of cost increases. When the user after the completion of a successful broadband business may still occur slower rate, packet loss and other issues. EPON technology is the introduction of broadband services in order to overcome these shortcomings, in order to stabilize the volume of business to contribute to broadband MAN.From the early establishment to the completion, after several times expansion and transformation, Anshan Metropolitan Area Network is becoming more stable and reliable quality. To meet the needs of the development of broadband services and network integration, how to improve the "last mile" access network has been the main concern of operation and maintenance sector. The successful introduction of EPON can provide not only more secure and stable communication, lower equipment procurement and maintenance, but also greatly reduces the related charges.PON technology there are also various drawbacks. Although the price of low cost fiber optic cable, but the terminal equipment and network structures is a huge investment. Major telecom operators in order to save costs, will be deployed to minimize the equipment and replace it with the various regions of the passive splitter. This naturally leads to the next series of problems. For example, the increase in the optical splitter path attenuation increases, effective up to shorten the distance; another splitter for the passive device can not do early warning, is difficult to judge the event of a fault barrier point, which increases the cost of equipment maintenance .In this paper, the EPON network resolution in Anshan will be introduced. Start with networking layer theory to the detail, combined with the actual work, EPON networks, norms, and failure analysis for future operation and maintenance of reference will be discussed in the later chapters.
