Design And Implementation Of EPON Broadband Access Network Project

With the advent of the Internet age, the broadband access network has been trended the technology development. China Unicom at Dalian has committed in building a broadband network in Dalian area with EPON technology, EPON networks structure, and network access programs to promote the transformation of urban projects. Tasks in below were carried out during author’s participation of EPON construction project in Dalian.(1) The project involved a through-out network testing in four urban districts, compared and contrasted with the existing DSLAM group networking programs; proposed respective EPON network construction, network planning, data planning and data configuration schemes. PON-based access concept as the principle with DSLAM access concept as supplementary was integrated with the network project.(2) This article interpreted the study of operational feasibility, site prospection, equipment selection, data planning and acceptance testing in real construction project.(3) The author participated in the IPTV network design around, analyzed technical issues existed in EPON group network, and proposed Safety solution plans on RP redundancy and security. Source router security, user-SR safety, PIM and IGMP security protocol were proposed and tested in a simulated environment by the author, which played a remarkable role in preventing security loop holes through the IPTV network project.Completion of this project established the benchmark and criteria for future residential network construction projects and enriched the foundation of Dalian Unicom business in the future.
