During the past few years, as the most basic technology of accessing to information, sensor obtained a great development and its application became more and more widely and importantly. With the development of modern sensor technology, people have access to information technology in the past gradually towards integration, miniaturization and network direction, which has also promoted the development of wireless sensor networks. Wireless sensor network is composed by many discrete sensor node in space and these nodes cooperate in the network. Sensor node is composed of the basic unit of wireless sensor network and constitute the basic platform for wireless sensor network. The development between node's technology is very closely, which determines the network performance directly.This paper designed a model of common sensor node. Sensor node is composed by microprocessor ATmega128L,wireless communications chips CC1000,temperature sensors DS18B20 and FLASH storage unit. The node has simple peripheral circuits, high integration and low power consumption. The results show that the node could meet the requirements of real-life environments and has strong practical value.This paper has five chapters. The first chapter describes the development process of wireless sensor networks, the basic structure and characteristics of wireless sensor network applications, and some of the main performance index.The second chapter describes the main features of the sensor nodes, several node types, details the general design requirements for the node, which lay the foundation for the design of the node.The third chapter begins to explain aspects of the node hardware design process ,described the selection and the performance characteristics of components, the connection between each units and setting the main operating parameters of the chip.The fourth chapter is about software design and implementation of the node, introduced the main software development environment, described the initialization process and the CC1000 chip data communication with the process ATmega128L, finally, the experimental results of each module.The fifth chapter is a summary text, summarizes the defects in the design process node, and put forward an improved proposal. Since then, the thesis completion of its creation.
