Research Of Clustering Communication Protocols In Wireless Sensor Network

Wireless sensor network is introduced to detect variable in certain regions, which are typically difficult to access to. It has been used more and more widely. And it has been an important research in wireless network. There are many characteristics in wireless sensor network. First, Energy of the network is limited .So it is the essential problem to realize energy saving. Second, it is based on data centric routing. And it is always necessary to aggregate data locally. For wireless sensor network has so many differences from traditional wireless network, it is necessary to design special communication protocols for it.Two protocols were proposed in this paper-- Load-Balanced Positive Selecting Clustering Communication Protocol(LPSC) and Self-organized Load-balanced Multi-hop Communication Protocol(SLMC).LPSC protocol was proposed for small and middle-sized network. In the new protocol, nodes joined clusters selectively. This approach can reduce the cost of communication. Simulation results demonstrate that the new mechanism is effective in balancing the energy-consuming among nodes and thus prolonging the network lifetime.SLMC protocol was proposed for large-scaled network. It got improved in the following aspects: First, SLMC adopted the measure of self-adapting cluster head selection, and made nodes with more energy have more probability to become cluster heads. This measure made the energy-consuming among nodes become more balanced. SLMC added energy parameter to the time formula and made cluster heads distribute more evenly. Second, in SLMC, cluster heads could construct a multi-hop network themselves without the help of sink. And this approach could solve the problem of early death of outer nodes. Third, SLMC didn't request that nodes could communicate with sink directly. And the using scale of the SLMC mechanism became wider.This paper introduced some popular protocols now used in wireless sensor network. And then LPSC and SLMC were proposed. The paper did simulations on the new protocols. And the simulation results demonstrated that the new protocols had good performance in reducing energy-consuming of nodes and prolonging thelifetime of the whole network.
