The Shaanxi postal information network was set up in 1999, and now all electronic postal services of Shannxi Post are performed in this muti-functional, safely network. However, with the development of new services, the confliction between the network security and service extension has become increasing conspicuous. Some fundamental infrastructure exist hidden defects such as:over-length using of service, unusual faults happening and too-high maintaining costs. Furthermore, with the high requirement standards of national HDTV and corporation services, the current network should be improved immediately.The topics of demand and technology development of postal information network are discussed in this paper.
