We design a new type of feed antenna for dielectric spherical lens: septum circular polarizer and short dielectric rod antenna assembly feed for dielectric spherical lens antenna. In this way, it is not only to meet the required performance in general, but also to achieve circular polarization.Firstly, the main forms of feed antenna for dielectric spherical lens are studied. Summarized the previous work done, we present the proposed antenna in this paper. Secondly, we have a detailed analysis of dielectric spherical lens and circular polarizer dielectric rod antenna technologies. At the same time, the balanced feed technology is also studied.Finally, the proposed antenna is designed and analyzed with the help of Ansoft HFSS software. From the simulation results, we can see the post-lobe level is too large. To solve the problem, we set the feed antenna by adding a quarter wavelength choke, and the co-simulation with the dielectric spherical lens is also done. As seen in the results, the feed antenna adding choke feed to the lens, and the lobe level has reduced from 6.46dB to -0.15dB. Meanwhile, the gain increased from 18.116 dB to 20.369dB, and the beam width increased from 14°to 16°. These results show that this is a good feed antenna.
