Blind landing is gaining popularity in recent years. And the millimeter-wave antenna is an important part of the whole navigation system. Antennas in this application should meet the requirements such as high directivity, low loss and multiple beams. Millimeter-wave dielectric lens antenna is a kind of aperture antenna with high directivity. It has some important advantages such as wide angle scanning, beam shaping, compact structure and low cost. These advantages make them very well suited to a number of military or civil applications. In this dissertation, the design process of lens antenna is mainly studied and a novel fan-beam antenna is developed. The main content of the dissertation is shown as below:(l)The basic principle and analyses techniques of lens antenna are discussed. The important parameters which we need to optimize are also summarized.(2) The performance of the tapered slot antenna is analyzed.(3) The dissertation also introduced a cylindrical lens antenna structure which can produce fan-beam.(4) Ray tracing techniques are used to calculate the efficiency and beam width of the lens antenna.The main differences between different lens configuration are also analyzed.HFSS is also used to simulated the lens antenna. The simulation result and calculation result is basically the same. But the ray tracing techniques can save more time and memory than HFSS.
