At present,in order to maintain the market's leading edge,China Mobile and other operators are widely building base stations for the fourth generation mobile communication technology TD-LTE.However,the current base station site resources are very intense,operators want to achieve the co-location of TD-LTE and 2G,3G base station antennas,but the size of conventional TD-LTE base station antenna is so large that operators cannot easily achieve the goal of co-location.Therefore,the miniaturization of TD-LTE base station antenna has a very urgent market demand.As a major antenna miniaturization technology,dielectric antenna has a brilliant future in this area.Based on the above background,this paper starts the research and design of miniaturized dielectric antenna for TD-LTE base station from the actual demand.Firstly,this paper introduced the research progress of dielectric antenna technology,and analyzed their application in mobile communication base station.The dielectric loaded antenna and the dielectric resonator antenna technology were selected for the design of miniaturized dielectric antenna for TD-LTE base station in this paper.Subsequently,to prepare for the following design,the key indicators of the base station antenna and the basic principles involved in this paper were summarized.Then,this paper started the design of miniaturized dielectric loaded antenna for TD-LTE base station.Under the premise of ensuring the performance index,the high dielectric constant dielectric loading was used to reduce the height of the conventional antenna element by 1/3.After that,we used this element to construct TD-LTE smart antenna array model by simulation software,to design its array mode and feed network.Then this array antenna was fabricated and tested.In 1880MHz-1920 MHz and 2496MHz-2690 MHz,which are the outdoor working frequency band of TD-LTE,the measured key indexes meet the design requirements.In addition,according to the need of indoor coverage of low frequency of TD-LTE,this paper also designed a kind of dielectric loaded small ceiling antenna in 880MHz-960 MHz.At the same time,this paper also studied the design of miniaturized dielectric resonator antenna for TD-LTE base station.Two low profile TD-LTE band dielectric resonator antenna elements were designed respectively.One kind of the elements was fabricated.Measured results of VSWR are qualified,and the measured results of the pattern of the antenna element agree well with the simulation results.On the other hand,the radiation efficiency of the base station antenna element affects the antenna gain,how to measure the radiation efficiency is a very meaningful topic.So this paper also designed a device and its supporting program based on the improved Wheeler Cap method to measure the radiation efficiency of base station antenna element.The radiation efficiency of a conventional base station antenna element and the dielectric resonator antenna element was measured and analyzed.
