As information technology, microelectronics technology and the rapid development of communication technology, Digital Signal Processing is widely used in Communication, Audio, Images, Biological, Medicine as well as Automatic Control and other fields. As one of the core technology of digital signal processing, the applications of the FFT processor-based on fast Fourier transform become more and more popular, especially in recent years, the emergence and development of OFDM technology make the research on high speed and scalable point FFT processor has practical significance. This paper first introduces the basic principle and implementation methods of the OFDM technology, and introduces the application of fast Fourier transform in OFDM.Then on the basis of the analysis of a variety of FFT algorithms, select the FFT algorithm which can not only suitable for FPGA implementation but also suitable for the requirements of digital audio broadcasting system.The scalable FFT processor designed by this paper consists of five radix-4 butterfly calculation and one radix-2 butterfly calculation.Radix-4 butterfly calculation modules and radix-2 butterfly calculation modules are the core parts of the whole FFT processor. At the same time, according to the simulation and verification of FFT processor when it works under four different kinds of models such as working in 2048 point, 1024 point, 512 point,256 point. The simulation result shows that the scalable FFT processor designed by this paper meets the precision requirement, and can be used in DAB system.
