In recent years, coal mine safety accidents occur frequently in our country, especially in heavy, large common casualties, caused heavy casualties and huge economic losses. The gas explosion is majority in these incidents. The traditional coal mine safety monitoring systems use the way of cable networks, however, because of the restriction of time and space flexibility in cable networks. In order to address the evils of cable systems, this paper designed a coal mine gas monitoring system based on wireless sensor network technology. The system collect the gas concentration data and transmit to the gas sub-station monitoring gateway by the ZigBee wireless channel. Then transmit to the ground control center. This paper first analyzes the domestic and international coal mine monitoring system status and research background and significance; then gives the wireless sensor technology, ZigBee technology and gas concentration infrared detection principle, for the ZigBee wireless sensor network node hardware and software design of theoretical support. According the existing environment of mine and user requirements, completed a coal mine monitoring and control system requirements analysis; then combining the characteristics of ZigBee wireless sensor network node, choosed the suitable devices. Then described the hardware and software design of coal mine gas concentration ZigBee wireless acquisition system. In the last, completed Wireless sensor node gas detection module and system integration testing. The coal mine gas monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is satisfactorily resolved the problem of wired monitoring system. It is low power consumption, system networking flexibility, openness, reliability, easy to expand the applications.
