IP bearer network technology has become the trend of telecommunication network. With the expansion of IP bearer network, there is an urgent need to solve the problem of quickly configuring the network equipments. Owing to some problems existing in the current network auto-allocation protocols, it is necessary to design a new network auto-allocation protocol. The network auto-allocation in the proposed protocol is achieved by building a sever-root configuration tree.The main contents of this thesis are as follows. Firstly, the basic concepts of IP bearer network and the principle of designing network topology structure are introduced; Secondly, the message types used in the auto-allocation protocol are presented, and then the IP allocation process, fault handling process and the design of routing module, general nodes as well as server node are described briefly. Finally, we use the NS2 to simulate the auto-allocation protocol, and design a variety of types and sizes of the network topology. Through analyzing the simulation results, we observe that the designed auto-allocation protocol can realize automatic configuration of network nodes, and provide automatic fault recovery.
