With the great development of computer and multimedia technology, human-computer interaction, technology is widely used. Nowadays, it appears an electronic human-computer interactive whiteboard which has been applied in lecturing and conference, etc. We can control the computer by using a pointer or even a finger on whiteboard rather than conventional blackboard. In this way, the operator can be freed from the binding of the mouse and keyboard and obtain a more flexible and convenient operating environment. At present, the electronic interactive whiteboard has been on sale and been used widely. However, most of products are expensive and they can not work perfectly in the multi-pointers mode and the ultra large screen situation. In order to ameliorate the present products, a new electronic interactive whiteboard is presented. In our system, by using low cost linear CCD device and special camera lens, the information of light pens which move on the project screen is captured. To realize the double-pointer interactive function, we design two different light pens. The system can implement the double-pointer human-computer interaction and other certain functions by analysis the signal provided by the CCD.In this paper, the principles and requirement of the system will be introduced at the beginning. Then the overall design will be presented, and the whole design is divided into four parts:light pen, optical system, signal processor circuit and application in compute. The designs of light pen and signal processor circuit are discussed in details. Moreover, we established an electronic multi-pointer interactive whiteboard system and did testing works. The factors which have effect on the pointing precision are especially analyzed based on the experimental data. At the end of this paper, the whole work is summarized and the orientation to enhance the performance is also discussed.
