With the development of multimedia, computer and display technology, electronic whiteboard has been growing up rapidly in the late 1990's, applied in the field of teaching, conference and demo. By using a digital pen, the operator can write or draw on a special digital whiteboard or on the screen, which takes the place of conventional blackboard. Controlling the cursor directly, he devotes himself to his speech over by operating the mouse and keyboard. The shared electronic whiteboard can perform the net meeting and distance learning with relative software.The electronic whiteboard based on the optical information processing is composed of computer, projector, camera and digital pen, which is an integration of optical, electronic, mechanical and copmuter technology. A new project with low-cost position measurement method was designed and a sample system was developed, with hardware and software available.First, the theory of the system and some software theory refferd to this work has been introduced briefly. Next, the systematic requirement was analysed, with which a project was presented, including three main parts, the digital pen, signal processor and software. Then, the new digital pen has been developed with primary fuction achieved.The key of this dissertation is to discuss the programming of the software. According to waterfall model of software engineering, the procedures, including requirements analysis, design and coding were discussed in details stepwise. The key to the software is to design a adequate algorithm to digital filter and coordinates conversion. Finally, the algorithm of nonlinear maching was employed. A model of shared electronic whiteboard was presented.At the end of this dissertation, the orientation to enhance the performance is also discussed.
