Electric Arc Furnace takes the energy creating by the arc to smelt, it is one kind of important smelting furnaces. When the Electric Arc Furnace is working, properties of electrode control system impair the quantity and quality of steel, the cost of production, so researching the simple and effective method which can well control the electrode during all the smelting stages is the important question. Because the embedded system has smeller size, higher function, lower power consumption, higher reliability assurance and is connection with the application in the industry, now it is widely being used in most of all fields. The paper combines embedded technology with industry controller, then designs and develops the smart electrode control system based on ARM and embedded Linux system.After researching the smelling equipment and technique of Electric Arc Furnace, studying the embedded system, the paper has further research on the following aspects. Design the total project of the system, because hardware is the supporter when run software, main hardware design for the embedded system is how to choose the appropriate microprocessor and developing board making sure they can meet the requirement of the application, design the software for the system. Before design the application software, in this paper is mainly about electrode control program and GUI program, need build the environment of cross development, in this case build the development environment of ARMSYS2440 board based on the ARM & Linux. The building work contains two parts, installing the software and service for host and installing the embedded operating system for ARM board. After design the hardware for electrode control system and build the development environment for software, the following next step is to design the electrode control program and GUI. First of all, on the base of analyzing the character and control way of electrode control process adopt the fuzzy control method to realize the constant current control way, then compile the electrode control program in the cross development environment and run it in the ARMSYS2440 board. Next, according to the requirement of the embedded GUI, choose and install the Qt/E GUI, then take it to design the graphical user interface for electrode control system, this let electrode control system have good human-computer interaction function.The smart electrode control system of Pan Zhi Hua's 10t Electric Arc Furnace designed by this paper successfully apply the embedded technology to the control process of steel smelting. To some extent, it has application value in fact.
