In this paper, based on the electric arc furnace control system of Jilin Ferroalloy 8 branch, in the access to a large number of domestic and foreign literature, it is introduced the process of smelting ferroalloy in the electric arc furnace, and self-baking electrodes of domestic and international developments, and discussed the electric arc furnace control method and technology development, research status and development trend.Many of the factors that impact on self-baking electrode practice arc examined and identified. Firstly, two kinds of self-baking electrodes are present which fit for different kinds of metallurgical factories. Then,base on the model of the electrode, the electrode current slipping rate,water-cooling and mantel air temperature are discussed. Ways in which the variable heating conditions in the paste melting zone can be controlled are outlined.For the electric arc furnace electrode control system requirements in the Ferroalloy smelting process, it is focused on the choice of electrode controller design for in-depth discussions. In the analysis of the working mechanism of the electrode control system, it is introduced the parts of the system mathematical model of the implementing agencies. Electric arc furnace system has a non-linear and time-variant, and for three-phase of the electric arc furnace, there is a strong coupling between the electrodes, and this seriously affected the control of three-phase electrode.Previously, separated three-phase electrode can not achieved satisfied performance, theoretical analysis also shows that a traditional PID control of three-phase electrode get the good results difficultly. So, the control methods based on model are acing the high requirement of practical problems in engineering and engineering application.The new control methods should meet the requirements of controlled objects, such as imprecise model, adaptability, overcoming the large time-delay system and so on. Model free adaptive control (MFAC), which does not based on the mathematical model of the controlled object is another important aspect of automation. MFAC is control object oriented, it is a functional combination control method which does not consider the mathematical model of the controlled system first.To address the above problems, it is presented MFAC applied to electric arc furnace electrode regulator system, Namely, under the conditions of without changing the original control system it makes the control system as a whole, for model-free adaptive control.It takes conclusion from simulation that the electrode adjusting control regulator, which illustrated in this paper can minish the coupling among the three electrodes and restrain the system disturbances.
