A Study On Innovation Of Library Virtual Reference Services

In information times, with digital library deeply carrying on and information users'information needs growing extensively, the public libraries, academic libraries and research libraries, as the representative of the three-type libraries, are trying to unfold new-type information services by information and network technology. So the virtual reference services(VRS) was born. With the virtual reference services carrying on deeply and extensively, the network information services, one typical example of which is VRS, are gradually becoming an important elementary part of library information services, and the theoretical study on virtual reference services is also carrying on gradually.Under such big circumstances, this paper studies the innovation content of virtual reference services in libraries of China:Based on the annalysis of the background and research situation of virtual reference service, with the guaidance of innovation theory, adopting investigation method, system method, induction and comparison.method, this paper studies the innovation content of virtual reference services from the aspect of mechanism, system, service contents, techniques, marketing modes and scientific evaluation mechanism. And then, author also gives it a round and systematic discussion.At last, this paper comes to such a conclusion:the six aspects of virtual reference service innovation, including mechanism innovation, system innovation, service content innovation, techniques innovation, marketing modes innovation and scientific evaluation mechanism innovation, interact and reinforce each other mutually, and they constitute the network system of virtual reference service innovation altogether. Their common developments promote the development of the innovation theory system of virtual reference service. And the study on theory system of innovation service can further play a guiding role in the innovation development of virtual reference service in some degree.
