With the flourishing development of China's tourism and the contantly improvement of the tourism industry's status, more and more people treat travel as a stylish way for leisure and vacation. But in tourism, visitors may always feel inconvenience due to the lacking of information of the attractions. Electronic guide is electronic equipment based on advanced electronic technology to introduce the attractions for the area. It can instead of artificial way to introduce, and can provide the detailed information of attraction, and tourist route query, it can provide a variety of travel services for visitors.This paper introduces the design of hand-held electronic guide system based on embedded technology in detail. The system choose Intel Corporation's PXA270 as the underlying hardware. And it choose embedded Linux operating system as software platform. And it also designed the GUI(Graphical user interface) of the electronic guide system based on Qt/Embedded through the C/C++ programming.It realized the calls of drivers in the underlying linux.The system can obtain the current location of visitors through the precise GPS positioning system.and detect tourist attractions automatic in the digital vector map through an integrated map matching approach. At the same time, it achieve the cenic path query functions through an improved route planning algorithm.The main research work of this subject is as follows:First, the transplant of Linux kernel and drivers to the PXA270 development board. Second, designed the graphical user interface in QT/Embedded. Third, research and design an integrated map matching algorithm which is suitable for the area's electronic map.Finally, improved the classic shortest path algorithm to achieve scenic path query.The system can realize the precise positioning in electronic map, and can provide video, pictures and text and other rich multimedia tourist information.It also realize the scenic path queries by the optimization shortest path algorithm, which has a good prospect.
