Public Wireless Local Area Network (PWLAN), which combines the high efficiency and security of WLAN with those of the existed GSM/GPRS has become a popular research topic. An advanced Network Management System (NMS) is crucial to PWLAN. As a part of national high technology project (i.e. the 863 progect)"researches on the security and application of the public wireless LAN", this dissertation mainly focuses on the network management for PWLAN.The background, components and the security architecture of PWLAN are analyzed in Chapter 1. Furthermore, the development and the properties of NMS are studyed.In Chapter 2, we investigate the main functions of NMS in PWLAN, according to Access Point (AP) and Access Controller (AC) respectively. On the investigations of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), AP and AC, the management information database (MIB) and the NMS agent modules of PWLAN NMS system are realized on Linux platform.The development of web-based NMS is describled in Chapter 3. The hiberarchy, architecture, components and essential techonogy of J2EE are exploited for the implementation of WBM in PWLAN system. Eventually, such modules as user authentication, malfunction management, user logs and SSH are describled in details.The results of test indicate that the web-based NMS can run stably and the performance of main function modules meets the WLAN specification of China Unicom. |
