Chia's Online Reading Research On The Domain Of Culture

Since the mid-1990s, information technology, particularly Internet technology, has accelerated the development of network communication. As a new popular media, network put its effect and influence deep into every fields of social life such as economic, political, cultural gradually. With the popularity of network media and the development of network communication technology, Online reading is widely different from the traditional way of reading. Compared with the traditional reading, contents of the online reading, especially the way to read, has a marked technological advantage. Online reading has become a important channel for hundreds upon millions of netcitizen in China to know and to integrate into our society.Different media have different impact on culture and vice versa. Media is edified by culture and reflectes the corresponding characteristic of cultural. As the internet is interactive, participatory, decentralized etc, it has a more significant impact on culture. Online reading is an important channel for vast audiences of network to know, understand, and create contemporary mass culture. In the network world, the boundary between communicators and the audiences was almost broken. The audiences'productivity and creativity was greatly stimulated. With the relevant theory of communication and sociology, this paper, introduced the concept, characteristics, history, etc. of online reading, and analysed that through impacting on audiences, online reading affacted the process of social cultural from the perspective of cultural studies. The purpose of cultural studies is not only elucidate some great ideas and works of art, but also the meaning and value of a particular way of life, so as to understand the common factors of a certain culture. Based on the analysis about the phenomenon of online reading, this article is trying to clear the cultural value and significance of online reading.This paper is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the reason for the title-deciding, content and research methods, as well as an overview of domestic and international cultural studies. The second part is an overview of our network of reading. It compares the relevant concept about online reading, traditional reading and digital reading firstly. Then, compared with the traditional reading of the difference between online reading and traditional reading, the paper sketches the contours of the charaters, development and reading psychological changes of our audience. The third and fourth part is the key paragraphs. The third part is the cultural significance of online reading. It analyzes the content of onling reading, revealing online reading has many culture meanings such as weakening culture industry control, freedom expression, ideological construction, education popularization, promotion of public opinions. The fourth part is called the cultural dilemma of online reading. It reveals some social issues such as lack of underlying values orientation online reading and fostering of social obedience awareness which brought by consumptive nature of Internet culture, endless duplication on technology, etc.
