Verilog-HDL is one of the most extensive hardware description languages (HDL). It fits for both the design and the description of each level of algorithm, gate to switch and simulation verification, sequence analysis etc. And the thesis is about the study of and the application for Verilog-HDL.Firstly, the background, objective and significance of the study are represented.Then, the thesis describes Verilog-HDL generally following with the introduction from such aspects of Verilog-HDL as appearance and development, primary characters, syntax, model, description mode and IDE (Integrity Development Environment). And all of these above lay the foundations of study of and application for Verilog-HDL.Next, Verilog-HDL is studied from the practical angle. For acomplete digital circuit system, it usually contains such three sections as signal occurrence, signal detection and signal display. Here, from three above-mentioned parts, the thesis discusses both advantages and disadvantages over every method adopted by the different Verilog-HDL implementations for same design through studying of the development as examples of programmable single pulse generator, pulse frequency measure, pulse period measure, LED (Light Emitting Diode) display, LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) display and 256 dot array display. At the same time, it abstracts both the basic approach for digital circuit system design using Verilog-HDL and the design pattern under some particular cases.Finally, according to the results obtained above, the thesis represents the design and implementation of Verilog-HDL-based position sensor controller from the aspects as sequence diagram, flow diagram, logic diagram, Verilog-HDL description and logic simulation result. The controller has been used in an existed measure and control system of magnetostrictive linear position sensor.
