Usability is a key factor to evaluate the quality of a product by the angle of the end users. Nowadays, usability problems exist in most websites. The users' behaviors often conflict with the intent of the designer of website. It not only bring great inconvenience to users' normal visit, but also reduce the competitiveness of the website by influencing the user's satisfaction. To improve the usability of a website, you must find the existing usability problems first. The effective way to find these problems is to get the users' behavior pattern in the website and improve the website according to it. A mass of visit information was recorded in the web log files. It determines that we can get the users' behavior pattern by digging into the log files using effective methods.According to the need of website usability, we do some experimental research on finding users' behavior patterns by mining the log files of the website to help the usability experts finding usability problems. Web design an assistant tool for website usability analysis and implement the tool's prototype. We put emphases on the research of the possibility and related technologies of applying associated rule mining on website usability analysis. Then we select a website and do a case study. Some typical usability problems in the website were found. To validate the correctness of the result, we selected some representative users and implement a user test for the problems found. From the result of the case study and user test, we can see that a lot of usability problems, which may be ignored by other tools, can be find by using this tool. At the same time, the advantage and limitation of the tool we summarized can do great benefit for the developing a usable tool in the future.
