Archives is the original record of human activity, and a tie of cultural continuity. But a large number of pests take the making materials of archives as nutriment, if the storehouse is managed improperly at ordinary times, pests disaster is liable to take place ,which causes losses that can't be retrieved to precious cultural heritage. This thesis introduces the domestic and international research development on techniques of preventing against and killing archives pests briefly at first, on the basis of advantages and disadvantages of chemical , physical, biological pest-killing techniques and practice of realistic archives preservation,determines to research lethiferous effectiveness of high temperature pest-killing technique, low temperature pest-killing technique, microwave pest-killing technique and high pressure nitrogen suffocation pest-killing technique,and affect on durability of making materials of paper archives systemically.To protect against and kill archives pests is an important research subject of science of archival preservation. In recent years, academia of archival preservation has made a rich achievement on theory prove of feasibility of measures of protecting against and killing pests,realistic application and lethiferous effectiveness. Whereas research on affect on durability of making materials caused by measures of protecting against and killing pests has not come to systematism. This thesis analysis lethiferous effectiveness of high temperature pest-killing technique, low temperature pest-killing technique, microwave pest-killing technique and high pressure nitrogen suffocation pest-killing technique, and affect on tensile strength, wearproof strength, whiteness of copypaper, writing paper, rice paper and newsprint, affect on colour difference of red , blue , blue-black ink colored writing, and black ink , laser printing , xerox,, gushing typing black writing caused by four physical pest-killing techniques above-mentioned. The high temperature pest-killing experiment is divided into 45℃, 50℃, 55℃ three groups according to temperature; the low temperature pest-killing experiment is divided into ~5 ℃ ,-10℃, -15 ℃ three groups according to temperature; The microwave pest-killing experiment is divided into 2 minutes, 3minutes > 4 three minutes three groups according to time;the high pressure nitrogen suffocation pest-killing experiment is divided into 7 MpaN 1. 0 Mpa^ 1. 3 Mpa three groups according to the atmospheric pressure.The experimental conclusion indicates sequence of lethiferous effectiveness of the four physical pest-killing techniques: microwave pest-killing technique > high temperature pest-killing technique > high pressure nitrogen suffocation pest-killing technique, sequence of affect on durability of making materials of paper archives: microwave pest-killing technique > high temperature pest-killing technique > high pressure nitrogen suffocation pest-killing technique.Which offers an effective reference for department of archives preservation to prevent against and kill file pests.
