The Study On The Stability Definition Of Black Signature Pen Writing

Black signature pen has become the main writing tool in people's daily life, it has become a new type of writing material in the field of archives. But the composition and quality of different black signature pen inks is not the same. This has resulted in differences of stability of the handwriting written by black signature pen. Due to the stability of writing will determine the stability of the original file, therefore.the systematic studies and scientific evaluation on the stability of handwriting written by black signature pen has important significance. This paper includes the following:1. To investigate the durability factors of the files from both internal and external causes. Internal factors include the stability of the pigment in writing, the stability of paper, the binding mode of paper and the writing. External factors include ultraviolet light, oxidizing materials, acids, alkali, temperature, humidity and other factors.2. Design a external program of measurement and characterization and a internal program of evaluation and analysis.3. In the analysis experiment of external factors, For ultraviolet light, temperature, humidity, we take accelerated aging method,and characterization faded handwriting status with color evaluation system. In addition, to illustrate the faded handwriting,we make a tracking shot with the depth of field instruments over the writings before and after aging. To characterize the hydrophilic property changes in handwriting, we use a contact angle measurement method.For the two external factors of hazardous liquids (acids, alkalis, oxides, organic matter) and harmful gases (acid gases, basic gases, oxidizing gas), the research took the methods of a short-term immersion, long-term immersion,and the closed environment of long-term preservation.4. Experimental Analysis of internal factors, including infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, elemental analysis,the differences of water-based pens and neutral pens in composition were compared and analyzed.5. Conclusion:the binding mode of paper and handwriting written by neutral signature pen is the most secure type of conjunctival plus absorption-type, the binding mode of paper and handwriting written by water-based pen is less secure,which is single absorption type;the main pigment of gel ink is carbon black, the main pigment of water based ink is dye;the performance of handwriting written by gel pen,which includes the light resistance, water resistance, oxidation resistance,and the resistance for hazardous liquid like acid and alkali, is superior to handwriting written by water-based pen.Resistance of handwriting written by gel pen which against harmful gases, such as acid gases, basic gases, oxidizing gases, is much better than water-based pen. Therefore, the durability of gel pen writing is much better than water-based pen, gel pen is more suitable as file writing material.
