The Experimental Study On Microclimate Controlling Technology Of Culture Relic Storage And Display Case

Ancient books and paintings are precious heritages in our country, and how to protect them from damage is an important problem. The deleterious effect of environmental factors,such as temperature, relative humidity, light, pollutants and pests or mold damage on the longevity of paintings under exhibition conditions were analysed. And the measures to eliminated these effects were recommended. Then, the display case for ancient paintings was designed and the experiments for testing the performance of humidity control, ultraviolet radiation protection and nitrogen purging system were made. The set-up consisted of three parts: the sealed display case, the nitrogen purging system and monitors. The nitrogen purging system provided pure nitrogen with proper humidity for the sealed display case in order to maintain anoxia environments, and monitors were used to monitor the experiment. Before experiment, humidity buffer and oxygen scavenger were placed in the case. According to experiment, the appropriate amounts of nitrogen and passive control agents were got. This research mainly controlled relative humidity, light, pests and mold. The experiment results were given in the following sections. Firstly, ultraviolet radiation protection films adhering to the glasses of display case could eliminate 60% damage; secondly, relative humidity fluctuated below 2% everyday with relative humidity buffer; and when oxygen concentration in the display case reached 2%, nitrogen must be purged into the display case to maintain anoxia environment. How to seal the display case firmly was a key problem, and the hermetical performance of our experimental display case is unsatisfying, as the limitation of mechanical process technology. However, the experimental result showed that the environment control technologies were also effective. On the base of experimental result, we designed the sealed display of "Going up River on Spring Festival". This display case included sealed case and accessorial system, and this display case included 8 control systems, and won five No.1 in the world. The display case provides the ancient paintings with comfortable environment, and it would be very popular in market.
