The conservation of cultural relics is a key technology for museum. Our country is a civilized ancient nation with a history of thousands years. There are a huge invaluable cultural relics in our country. However, limited to the conservation technology, many cultural relics are stillburied in underground, and a large amount of excavations are destroyedat the same time. The preservation environment of the cultural relics was investigatedroundly in this paper. It is found that there are two major problems thatshould be solved in the cultural relics' preservation environment field. One problem is that the temperature and humidity's indexes of thecultural relics are not accurate, so there isn't a standard that accepted allover the world. The another one is that the energy consumption of thetemperature and humidity control system is very high, meanwhile, theshowcases' interior environment is affected by the temperature andhumidity control system's running condition. So it can't supply a steadyand safe environment for cultural relics. To resolve these problems, two methods were suggested andresearched in this paper:(1)Taking the organic cultural relics as research object, a methodthat determining the humidity index by means of the solving optimalmoisture absorption model of the cultural relics was introduced in thispaper.(2)The showcases' temperature and humidity control system thatapplied in museum was researched in this paper, and found that themethod that via cooling air to low its humidity wasted too much energy. So a new kind of showcase with the temperature and humidityindependent control system was introduced in this paper to reduce theenergy consumption. In this kind of showcase, the temperature iscontrolled by radiant cooling panel; the humidity is maintained bymechanical humidity control system and moisture-conditioned materials. The showcase that adopted this temperature and humidity independentcontrol system's temperature and flow field were compared with the convectional showcase by numerical simulation. It is found that the newshowcase's isothermals distribute more regular than the convection one.The new showcase's zone which fits for the cultural relic's preserving isbigger than convection one too. Then the liquid desiccation system wassuggested for the temperature and humidity independent control system. At last, the new showcase's temperature and flow field were investigatedby computational fluid dynamics software FLUENT6.1, someoptimization designs were suggested based on the simulation.
