With the rapid development of the computer network,the traditional centralized network measurement system is challenged by the measure to multi-vendor and multi-technology heterogeneous network and exposes some deficiencies.First,when the network scope becomes larger,the short messages holding measurement commands or measurement results will occupy a large number of network bandwidth.That will not only lead to the decline of the network performance but also has bad impact on the measurement accuracy.Second, the traditional centralized network measurement system can not provide the dispensability,fault tolerance and load balancing of the measurement task.Last,when the measure demand changes,the traditional centralized network measurement system is difficult to extend and lacks the platform adaptability.The above drawbacks urge this paper to make an in-depth research on the related technologies of network measurement.On the basis of the design and implement of a network measurement system based on CORBA used in IP networks,the paper puts emphasis on the distributed traffic measurement model and software architecture of the network measurement system based on CORBA.The principle for designing such a system is also analyzed.The system adopts a multilayer Client/Server architecture based on CORBA benchmarking so as to reduce the impact of the short messages upon the network performance effectively and improve the veracity of measurement result.Besides the passive measurement method based upon SNMP is used to collect traffic information.Then some technological details involved in the realization of the system are discussed,which include the means to measure the usage rate of network bandwidth,three techniques realizing the load balance of measure tast,the timely push of the trap messages,visualization of traffic flows and so on.Because deployment of the CORBA application is complex in practice environment,the approach for deploying and configuring this system is given.In addition,Orbix 6.1 of IONA is adopted to set up the CORBA platform,the program is realized by Java language under JCreator 3.50 instrument.Parts of running results are shown.
