With the development of GUI software, more and more functions were developed. It is greatly benefited the user, on the other hand, it brings challenge for the quality of software. GUI testing faces a great challenge. About the testing of GUI software, it includes two aspects. One is the usability testing and the other is function testing. About the usability testing of GUI, it mainly tests whether it is accord with the mentality of user, whether it can establish a harmonious atmosphere between user and software. Its main direction may be to research how it is can operated easily. The key is not methods of testing, but the guideline. About the function testing, it mainly tests whether GUI is accommodated with the expected function and no abnormality. The main direction may be the improvement of automation to improve the efficiency. In this dissertation, I worked at usability testing and function testing and get the following conclusion:1. About the usability testing, this dissertation analyses the GUI under WINDOWS and believes that it is lack of friendliness and harmoniousness in the interactive details. So after carefully analyzed user's mentality and expectation, two guidelines of goal-directed evaluation--understandability and harmoniousness--are put forward. At the same time, this dissertation also expanded the connotation of the presenting evaluation guidelines.2. About the function testing, this dissertation analyses the technology and properties of presenting automated testing tools and believes that most of them can not test automatically in the whole process. The technique of record/replay needs manual record. In addition, there is not a script drive by data and a result report. At the same time, these tools must use script language, which brings tester some difficulties. In order to resolve above problems, GUI automated testing framework with more automatic is studied in this dissertation. This framework includes three functions of automatically surveying interface of GUI, driving script by data file of XML, and automatically producing testing result. At last, the basic functions of this framework are produced by C# language.
