The rapid development of Internet and the economic globalization make software extensively permeate into various aspects of human society, and make the software application scale larger and more complex. At the same time, the social demand for software increases day by day which exceeds the software productivity. Currently, software industry is in an urgent need of better technology and supportive environment to promote productivity and to meet the demand of the development of society. In recent years, Intranet develops rapidly in a worldwide scale which brings people into a new field and provides a totally new program for the construction of an information system. Intranet model is based on the Web model of the Internet, therefore it can be termed B/S model. Advantages and disadvantages coexist in the B/S structure. How to efficiently employ B/S structure becomes the focus of software development.This thesis describes the design and implementation of a Web developing component based on XML. The component is developed by Java, assisted by Javascipt and XSL. Featuring with XML, it implements the mapping between RDBMS and objects, storage and transmission of data. The design of this component eradicates the defects of B/S architecture and focuses on the efficiency and safety issues. It can support the main stream database now, such as SQL Server 2000, Oracle 9i, DB2, and can be distributed on servers running Weblogic, Tomcat, JRun and JBoss. It can satisfy most requirements. The user interface is simple and wieldy through the XML configuration file and "taglib"; it is convenient for developing. The component reduces the workload of the developers; the application of this component help the Web developers to spend their force on the design of database and the implementation of the transaction logic; they need not take care of the operation of background. So it shortens the duration of project, and insures the product's quality and customer satisfaction.Finally, we introduce the application of this component into an actual OA system.
